What an amazing nose. When the bottle is first opened there is blueberry pie, rosemary and a big waft of peppermint. Let the glass stand if you can, then try again. Rich damson plums, and walnuts. And in the mouth there are subtle tannins, tarry and satisfying. For a wine of this depth and strength the acid is muted and very gently supports red and dark berry fruit, with a unique vanillin nuttiness on the finish.
Cool fermentation produced a wine rich and sweet with aromas of apricot, passion fruit and orange zest.
The sweetness is balanced by zingy acidity leaving a fresh, clean and long finish.
Attracting you straight away with its deep inky burgundy colour. The nose then lures you further; very spicy and peppery, with dusty blackcurrants and mulberry coulis.
Our Phillip Alexander is a Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot blend and offers cool and dark shades of chocolate and sweet fruit with the satisfaction of warm alcohol on the finish. The ideal accompaniment for a comforting stew or divine sausage.
A fun fresh and fruity wine that has just enough sweetness for those who are already sweet enough.
Our Gartelmann Wilhelm offers a warm palate of balanced ripe fruit flavours and invigorating acid. The finish is unmistakably "Hunter Valley". Deep ruby garnet in colour, it has aromas rich in cherries and blackberries with the merest hint of sandalwood. It is no shrinking violet, yet the warmth on the palate is happily balanced with ripe fruit flavours, invigorating acid and velvet smoky-wood tannins. The finish is unmistakeably 'Hunter Valley' with a compote of chariness, aniseed and dark berries.
