This “white of white” is based on Chardonnay grapes, giving it the wonderful elements of that variety: apple and honey characters on the nose, complexity on the palate and the ability to be delicious when young, or superb with age.
A new chardonnay, part of a new Gartelmann Reserve Range. It is elegant, subdued, exhibiting delightful citrus and flinty characters with a good dash of excellent French oak to add the vanilla and toasty bouquet we expect.
Gartelmann Sparkling Shiraz is our contribution to an iconic Australian wine style. Richly fruited Shiraz is given an extra dimension from secondary fermentation.
A 2018 gem consisting of 100% Shiraz and abundant “strawberries and cream” characters. Subtle sweetness is offset with balanced acid so that the wine fills the mouth whilst remaining dry and lively. A rosé for red wine lovers and the young or young at heart. Enhance with smoky or salty fare. Serve chilled with soy salmon, BBQ seafood or grilled haloumi.
The caramelised peaches on the nose, the citrusy nectarines on the palate, the long lime vanillin wafts on the finish, seducing the taste buds to believe it is sweet but finishing bone dry. This is one of those wines that you will remember for a long time. Such a cliche’ but it is superbly balanced and full of flavour. Delights every sense. To all who have wandered away from Chardonnay... come back, try this, you will not be continuing on that erroneous path any longer
4.5 stars Winestate Central NSW Tasting Edition May 2017 // This is not a wine for the faint-hearted, redolent of warm Mudgee summers with the smokiness of a distant bushfire. Dusty blackcurrant characters immediately assail the nose with sweet cedar and sandalwood notes following. If you can inhale just round the edges you’ll also see a spiciness... is it eucalyptus or paprika, lanolin, white pepper or maybe even jasmine.
Gold Medal 2017 Cowra Wine Show // Predominantly lemon and grapefruit characters feature on the nose as blossoms, and race around the palate as zesty fruit. The acid is tight and refreshing, the palate long and invigorating with a drawstring of minerality to bring it all together. Do not fight against the temptation to have another glass, nor the strong feeling that you should put a few down to observe over the next 5 or 10 years.
More in the line of the classic Hunter “bigger” style of Verdelho compared to the recent past’s “lean, mean and green” vogue, this 2018 Jessica exudes passionfruit and pineapple on the nose with a waft of Tahitian lime sherbet.

The nose is all about pears... just-ripe pears, with an almost-citrus tang and a touch of apple and smoky lanolin. In your mouth this develops with the classic Pinot Gris voluptuously smooth richness, even a slight oiliness, balanced by subtle but long-lived acid that takes the flavours right to the back of the palate where they explode like sherbet for a wonderful lime finale.
