Reviews & Awards:
93 points. "A 55/21/24% blend from the Rylstone district. Bright crimson-purple, it certainly reflects the cool climate, and the blend works well, seemingly riper than the varietal Merlot, with cassis and spiced olives the anchor." Wine Companion 2016.
"91 Points. A little right bank blend thing going on here (Merlot, Cab Sauv, Petit Verdot) that sings of its constituent parts: plum, leaf, tobacco hints. Herb and earth add an extra edge to what is a medium bodied blend. There's more of that delicious and juicy plum character and something like a tomato juice sauciness. Lends itself nicely to a ragu." The Vinsomniac, Stuart Robinson, Apr 2017
"... The blend is a 55/21/24% "Bordeaux" blend mix of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot and shows dark berry and plum fruits, lovely oak spice and soft tannins. Despite of lot of hype, there are some very ordinary merlots on the market. This blend shows what can be done with it with more than a little help from its Bordeaux stalemates. This lovely wine - at a very reasonable price - reminds me why we shouldn't abandon quaffing cabernet family wines." Eat & Drink, Christopher Haynes, Jan 2017
"… an interesting blend of Mer- lot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The colour is a rich cherry red. The nose is of ripe dark fruits from the Merlot, complemented by the plum and earthiness of the Petit Verdot and Cabernet. The softness of the Merlot and firmer structure of the Cabernet and Petit Verdot de- liver an intense blend of deep berry fruits, herbs and intense fruit characters." Have a go news, WA, Mar 2017
93 Points. "Mid ruby hues in the glass. An attractive nose of dark cherries and blackberries with a hint of oak. Generous and fruit driven in the mouth it displays a complex taste profile that while quite dry reminded me flavour-wise of Black Forest Cake. Its texture is initially velvety leading to a balance of fine tannins and well-balanced acidity. Noosa FM Radio, Marting Field, Feb 2017
"... The 2013 vintage release is a good one. On the nose, there are coffee, plum and mocha aromatics. The palate is medium bodied, with fresh acidity and a crunchy impression. Some early raw edges settled with time in the glass; give it a short decant before serving. Rating: Good, Drink: now to 2022." Grape Observer, Sean Mitchell
"An unusual and delicious blend of Merlot, Cab Sav and Petit Verdot, this wine has plums, cherries and a tad of earthiness of the bouquet. On the palate it has plenty of smooth rich red berries/fruits, leading to a biggish finish with tight tannins. A really great wine to enjoy with food." Wine Assist, Dan Traucki, Dec 2016
"90 Points - Very Good. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet and Petit Verdot from Mudgee, good depth is highlighted by dark berries, dark plums and dried Mediterranean herbs. A kick of earth adds another element to ponder. The fruit sits in the mid-palate soft and smooth though the tannins are a little tight. Long to finish, it's a handy drink for those cool nights by the fire or that hearty meal. Drink now to three years." QWine, Dec 2016
