2023 Gartelmann Benjamin Semillon
Hunter Valley
NAME: This wine is named after Jan Gartelmann’s father Ben and grandson Benjamin.
SINGLE VINEYARD: The fruit for this wine was sourced from the Glenesk vineyard the Upper Hunter sub region, on alluvial sands. Another classic Hunter Valley Semillon from the Gartelmann stable, typical of the wonderful variety from this region
TASTING NOTES: Vibrant lemon, lime and grapefruit characters feature on the nose and race around the palate as lively fruit. The acid is tight and zesty, the palate long and invigorating with a fine minerality. Whether it be by the glass or by the bottle, this Semillon will drink beautifully in its youth as a lean refreshing wine and mature into a rich toasty Hunter classic given the time to age.
FOOD MATCHING:The perfect accompaniment to any fresh seafood, from prawns to oysters and unembellished white fish.
CELLARING: Drink now or cellar until 2028 for a "toasty, honey” character or until 2033+ for maximum ageing.
