2023 Gartelmann Stephanie Pinot Gris
Renmark
NAME: This wine is named after Jorg Gartelmann’s daughter Stephanie.
TASTING NOTES: The nose is all about pears... just-ripe pears, with an almost-citrus tang and a touch of apple and smoky lanolin. In your mouth this develops with the classic Pinot Gris voluptuously smooth richness, even a slight oiliness, balanced by subtle but long-lived acid that takes the flavours right to the back of the palate where they explode like sherbet for a wonderful lime finale. This wine can definitely have two facets ... when it is cold, love it for its zing and refreshing fruit flavours. As it warms, it takes on a comforting wealth of complex, ripe deliciousness.
FOOD MATCHING: It will sit very happily with the lunchtime seafood BBQ, but not intimidated by a dressed up dinner party featuring citrusy pork, duck, fish or salads
CELLARING: Drink now as a young wine or short term cellaring over the next 3 years.
